WithYouWithMe was co-founded by young, ambitious individuals who saw a problem with the way veterans were transitioning from the defence force and vowed to fix it. With a mix of military and corporate experience, our team has dedicated itself to helping hundreds of veterans.
Why we exist...
30.2% Veteran Unemployment Rate
Not only is the veteran unemployment rate staggeringly high, the underemployment rate amongst veterans who have found work sits at 19%, leading to low job satisfaction and lack of purpose. Why is this the case and what are the effects?
1. Military personnel do not understand civilian HR systems and how to translate their skills, they have no existing professional networks or clear way to navigate available career choices.
2. The Australian public do not understand veteran skills, the ADF transition budget doesn’t assist the majority and the non-profit sector has been painting a picture of veterans as ‘broken goods’.
As a result, Australians view veteran applications as a risk, preferring civilian applicants with trusted institutional qualifications. The financial burden on the Government and tax payers keeps increasing as they provide necessary health support to high numbers of ex-ADF personnel who are struggling in a broken system.
With an average of $2.5m of training by the time they have served for 7 years, it simply doesn’t make sense that the private sector is not eagerly accepting this talent pool. The system is broken and WithYouWithMe set out to fix it for the men and women that served this country.
The WithYouWithMe Success Story
WithYouWithMe launched in Dec ’16 and has been partnering with Australian businesses and industry leaders to educate the private sector on the true value of veterans in the work place.
Through media, marketing and events we have been transforming society’s image of military personnel and offering employers direct access to a new pipeline of talent.
80+ companies now work alongside our team to place veterans into fulltime and contracting roles nationwide.
With 1400+ veterans now on our program, the sentiment is overwhelmingly postitive. Each candidate receives support and guidance to navigate the civilian sector and enter their new career with direction and confidence.
Our software uses a skill and personality algorithm to match users with a civilian pathway. They then receive free training and advice from both our team and the 200+ industry mentors who are involved in our program.
Our aim is to not only ensure that veterans are matched with the right career that will provide them with long term purpose, but also to make certain that they are highly competitive talent confident to succeed in industry from day one.
Through our successful layered and deliberate approach to solving this complex issue, we are comitted to scaling our user base in 2018 and positioning ourselves to change the veteran narrative in Australia, for good.
